Backstreet’s Back, Alright!

Backstreet is back here in Singapore and it will be fun. They will be here on May 2, 2015. The concert is a leg of their “In A World Like This” tour and it is their 4th time here in Singapore. We have to be excited about this because the boys will feature their newly released album. The concert will celebrate the quintet’s twenty years of music.


Backstreet Boys have been in the industry for twenty years and there is no doubt that their influence still remain. Not all Singaporeans know the whereabouts of Backstreet Boys. If you are not familiar about them, this is the time to know some details. Here are some things that you need to know about the Backstreet Boys:

  • Beginnings: The group was formed in Orlando, Florida way back 1993. The group consists of Brian Littrell, A.J. McLean, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and Kevin Richardson. The boys became popular with their international debut album Backstreet Boys in 1996.
  • Genres: The group performs different genres which makes them versatile. They perform pop, pop rock, R & B and adult contemporary.

  • Early years: The group’s first performance was held at SeaWorld in Orlando on May 8, 1993. Since then, the group continuously performed in other venues during the summer of 1993. In June 1995, the boys went to Sweden to record songs which paved way to their first single: “We’ve Got it Goin On”.  The album was a minor success in USA which only entered number 69 in the charts. However, in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France and Netherlands the album entered number 5. This success brought attention to the group in Europe.
  • Millennium: The third studio album of the boys was entitled “Millennium” which was released on May 18, 1999. The album gained number 1 spot in the Billboard 200. The songs from this album include “I Want It That Way”, “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely”, “Larger than Life” and “The One”.
  • Black & Blue: In 2000, the group released another album Black & Blue. Famous hits include “The Call”, “Shape of My Heart” and “More than That”. After the release of the album, the boys performed at the Super Bowl XXXV.
  • The comeback: On June 14, 2005, the group released comeback album called Never Gone. Famous hits include “Want You to Know”, “Crawling Back to You” and “I Still…”
